The Basics

Event: 2022 ODAC Indoor T&F Championships

Location: Salem, VA (Cregger Center)

The Lead: The Cregger Center Field House would play host to the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Roanoke College women would place 3rd of nine while the men finished 4th in the field of 10.

Women's Highlights:

  • 60M and 200M: Eleanor Hinckley posted a qualifying time of 8.01 to earn a spot in the finals. Hinckley would earn a 6th place finish with a time of 8.03. Hinckley returned in the 200M to finish 7th, .71 seconds ahead of teammate Taylor Poole in 9th.
  • 400M: Mikayla Hefferon just missed a top three finish with a final time of 1:00.09 while Haylee Gamble came home 7th (1:01.29).
  • 60M Hurdles: Hannah Snodgrass would finish atop the field with a final time of 8.95, .42 seconds clear of her nearest competitor. Hannah Koepfinger secured 5th place points (9.52).
  • 4x400 Relay: The quartet of Gamble, Koepfinger, Hefferon, and Lily Lippert finished runner up by less than two seconds with a time of 4:09.37.
  • High Jump: On the opening day of the Championships, Kaitlyn Nguyen would be crowned ODAC Champion with a jump of 1.57m. Cammi Winston finished 3rd (1.54m) and Hinckley was 5th (1.49m).
  • Pole Vault: Chloe Van Duyne was 5th with her final clearing attempt of 5.16m.
  • Long Jump and 800M: Koepfinger posted a final distance of 5.16m for a 4th place result. In the 800, Koepfinger was 8th when she crossed the line in 2:30.87.
  • Triple Jump: Winston claimed 4th place points at 10.50m.
  • Shot and Weight throw: In the Shot Put, Tiera Hudson (11.21m) was 3rd, one spot ahead of Grace Fowler (11.02m). In the Weight Throw the duo would flip-flop with Fowler finishing 2nd (14.72m) ahead of Hudson (13.77) in 4th.

Men's Highlights:

  • 60M: Brady Fowler was 2nd in the prelims (6.94), before posting a finals time of 7.00 for a 4th place result.
  • 200M: Samuel Crawford posted a time of 22.45 for a 3rd place finish, two spots ahead of Xavier O'Brien (22.60).
  • 400M: Crawford would return for a runner-up effort with a time of 50.62, just .35 of a second from claiming the top spot.
  • 3000M and 5000M: The two longest events of the meet would see Peter Smith earn points for the Maroons. Smith was 8th in the 3000 with a time of 9:03.92 and then come back in the 5000 with a runner-up finish in a time of 15:35.15.
  • 60M Hurdles: O'Brien was fastest in qualifying at 8.27. In the finals, the hurdler would tie the old meet record time of 8.23 in a runner-up effort.
  • 4x400 Relay: Roanoke would take the crown when the team of O'Brien, Fowler, Crawford, and Hunter Bohon paced the field with a time of 3:29.58.
  • High Jump: Bohon finished 3rd at 1.82 ahead of Elijah Lotharp and Daniel Hostetter.
  • Pole Vault: Edward Rygalski cleared 3.95m for a 4th place finish.
  • Triple Jump: Jared McIntyre was 6th in a field of 16 with a final distance of 12.70m.

Up Next: The Maroons are scheduled to go to Winchester for a Last Chance meet on March 4-5 in advance of the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
