The Lead: The Roanoke College men's cross country team kick-started the season in style winning the 2022 EMU Invitational with the women's team finishing third. Between both teams, the Maroons recorded seven top-15 finishes.

Highlights:

  • Cooper Neeble (16:36.3) and Chamberlain Zulauf (16:41.5) finished second and third overall to lead the Maroon men.
  • Matt Garis (17:03.8), Josh Fretwell (17:06.9), Robert Birdsall (17:15.2), and Peter Smith (17:19.1) finished ninth through twelfth, respectively.
  • Daniel Zearfoss (18.14.2) also finished in the top 20.
  • Lauren Brown was the top finisher for the women's team with a ninth-place finish in a time of 21:58.8.
  • Savannah Reid (24:00.1) and Sarah Kochanski (24:36.1) finished 18th and 19th, respectively
