Hanson named to Second-Team Virginia All-State Team

Senior Erin Hanson has been named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Team announced yesterday. It is the first time Hanson has garnered this honor in her career.

Hanson ended her career as the school's third leading scorer (1448), fourth in rebounding (749), fourth in scoring average (15.4 ppg), fifth in field goals made (501), second in free-throws made (392), eighth in blocked shots (58) and eighth in steals with 161. She is one of two players in the program's history to have scored over 1,400 points and pulled down over 700 rebounds in a career. She was named First-Team All-ODAC this season as she played only half the season. It was the fourth-consecutive year that Hanson was named to the All-ODAC team.

She was named ODAC Rookie of the Year, which was the first time a Maroon garnered this award. As a sophomore and junior, Hanson was named D3Hoops First-Team All-South Region. The 2007 ODAC Player of the Year, the Blacksburg High School product was voted WBCA All-America honors. She led the Maroons in scoring, rebounding and free-throws made in all four seasons. She is averaging 13.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 43% from the floor, 441.2% from three-point range and 82.4% from the line. She has led the team in scoring 11 times and rebounding 12 times in only 18 games played. Hanson was a two-sport athlete at Roanoke, as starting goalkeeper over the past three seasons, including an All-ODAC selection this season to compliment an 18-4-1 season, an ODAC Runner-Up finish and the school's second NCAA Tournament berth.

The Maroons finished 16-11 overall and 13-7 in the ODAC this season.
