Norwich, Wolfe Sweeps ODAC Softball Weekly Honors

Sophomores Clarissa Norwichand Gretchen Wolfe swept the ODAC Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively, announced this morning. It is the first time in Roanoke Softball history that they have swept the weekly honors.
 
Norwich, a sophomore from Hegins, Pennsylvania, helped Roanoke to a 3-1 showing at the Methodist Early Bird Tournament by batting .500 over the four games. She collected at least one hit in each game, going 6-for-12 overall with three doubles, two runs scored and a pair of RBI.
 
Wolfe, a sophomore from New Windsor, New York, tossed a three-hit shutout against #19 Methodist in her first start of the season.  Over seven innings, she faced just four batters over the minimum without surrendering a walk.  She also struck out 11 batters.
 
Roanoke is currently 3-1 on the season and defeated tournament-host and #19 Methodist, 1-0 in the biggest win to date on the young season. They also defeated Hood, 5-2 and NCAA Div. II member Fayetteville St. 14-3.
 
The Maroons will play in the Virginia Beach Blast Tournament this weekend, March 6-7. They will play against Baruch (NY), Rowan (NJ), Salisbury and NC Wesleyan.
