The Maroons scored in all but one inning in the 5-3 game one win. Down 2-1 in the second, Sara Caudle hit a solo homer to tie the contest. The Maroons took the lead in the third when pinch runner Taylor Zahn (Sandston, VA, Mills Godwin)scored off a Meghan Weingard (Boca Raton, FL, North Broward Prep)single to make it, 3-2.

In the sixth inning up 4-2, Lisa Scruggs (Madison Heights, VA, Holy Cross)added another insurance run in a big way, smashing a solo home run to give the Maroons a three-run cushion heading into the final inning.

Scruggs led the Maroons at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and a home run with two runs and an RBI. Sara Caudle (Irvington, VA, Lancaster)added a solo homer while Leona Rainey (Sandston, VA, Mills Godwin), Kelsey Ruitenberg (Geneva, IL, Geneva)and Weingardalso collected a hit in the win. Rainey added two stolen bases to move into a tie for sixth on the single-season stolen bases list at Roanoke (19).

Abigail Rexrode (Fincastle, VA, James River)(6-1) went six innings with four strikeouts and allowed a run. Ruitenberg became the school's new record-holder in single-season saves as she earned her fourth save of the year. She is one save shy of tying the career record at Roanoke.

The Maroons dropped a 4-0 decision in the twin bill. Rainey, Scruggs, Ruitenberg and Alea Bier (Bent Mountain, VA, Cave Spring)collected the only four hits of the game.

Ruitenberg (5-2) took the loss for Roanoke. Both Janie Holmes (Hartfield, VA, Middlesex)and Lis Norwich (Hegins, PA, Tri-Valley)combined for the final 5.2 innings, with three strikeouts apiece. Norwich struck out her 100th career batter this evening to move into 10th on the all-time list at Roanoke.

The Maroons only threatened to score in the fifth. Bier singled and stole second to put herself in scoring position. She advanced to third but the rally stalled as the Maroons popped out to end the scoring threat.
