Softball Splits with Emory & Henry in ODAC Action
SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke split an ODAC doubleheader with Emory & Henry Wednesday evening at the Moyer Complex. The Maroons record now stands at 22-6 overall, 7-3 in the ODAC, while the Wasps is 9-15, 3-7 in conference play.
 
The Maroons fell, 6-0 in game one but rebounded with a 5-0 shutout victory in the nightcap. Stephanie Clark (Nathalle, VA, Halifax) (4-3) took the loss in the first game.
 
Leona Rainey (Sandston, VA, Mills Godwin) and Lis Norwich (Hegins, PA, Tri-Valley) collected two hits each in game one while Felice Lowery had a double in the loss.
 
In the twin bill, Abigail Rexrode (Fincastle, VA, James River) (8-0) went the distance, striking out seven and scattered three hits with one walk. The Maroons scored three runs in the fifth and held on to salvage the day with a split against the Wasps.
 
Rexrode helped her cause on the mound, going 2-for-3 on the night, including a two-run blast in the fifth inning to secure the win. It was her first home run of her career.
 
Rainey went 3-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases. It gives her 26 this spring for third-most in a single-season and now fourth all-time with 56 at Roanoke. She is only five shy of beating her own single-season mark. Lowery hit a school-record three doubles with a run scored for the Maroons. She finished with four doubles on the day, giving her a team-best 12 on the season which is also 10th for most in a single-season.
 
The women will have a four big conference games this weekend at home as they host Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon.
