#12 Maroons Split Pair With #13 Hornets
LYNCHBURG – The #12 ranked Roanoke College softball team split a pair of games with #13 ranked Lynchburg College on Sunday, winning the first game 4-0 and falling 4-1 in the second.  The Maroons now have a record of 25-6; 13-1, while the Hornets are 26-7; 11-3 in conference play.

The Maroons outhit the Hornets 10 to seven in the first game, but there was only one hit that made the difference in the contest.  In the top of the second inning, Senior Meghan Weingard hit a grand slam to centerfield to give Roanoke a 4-0 lead.  Those four runs for the Maroons would be the only ones scored in the game as Roanoke won 4-0.

Stephanie Clark, Kayla Dehart and Meghan Weingard each finished the game with two hits, while Meghan Weingard had all four RBIs in the contest.  Clark, Caitlin Manuel and Weingard scored Roanoke's four runs as well.  Stephanie Clark (12-1) pitched the complete game shutout, striking out three in the process.

Kacey Clary led all players on Lynchburg with two hits, while five other players tallied one each.  Hope Johnson (12-2) was tabbed with the loss, giving up four runs off six hits in three innings.

The Hornets struck first in the second game, as Cassie Phillips hit an RBI single to center field, plating Amber Ingram to take a 1-0 lead.  Stephanie Clark answered with an RBI single of her own, scoring Alea Bier to tie the game at 1-1.  Lynchburg's Phillips hit a two RBI double to left center field to widen the gap in the sixth, 3-1.  Kacey Clary also hit a sacrifice fly ball to plate one more run, and go ahead 4-1.  That would hold as the final score as Lynchburg handed Roanoke its first ODAC loss of the season, 4-1 on Sunday.

The Maroons tallied only four hits in the game, one each from Leona Rainey, Alea Bier, Hollee Warlitner and Stephanie Clark.  Clark also finished with the team's lone RBI.  Ashley Crouch (2-1) was tabbed with the loss, giving up three runs off one hit.
