The Basics - Game One
Score:
Ferrum 3, Roanoke 2
Records: Roanoke 10-9, Ferrum 11-8
Location: Ferrum, Va.

The Lead: Roanoke took an early lead but Ferrum rallied for the final three runs to take a 3-2 decision.

How it Happened:
  • Roanoke jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning after back-to-back singles from Rachel Guilliams and Jordan Meador.
  • Mattie Morris and Erin Forbes followed with an RBI singles to make it 2-0 Maroons.
  • Ferrum cut its deficit in half in the home half of the second when Logan Barbour homered with one out to make it 2-1.
  • The Panthers picked up a pair of runs the next inning after taking advantage of miscue by RC in the field to take the decisive 3-2 lead.
  • Taylor Asimakopoulos (1-3) took the loss for RC after tossing 3.1 inning and giving up three runs. Emily Salsberry threw 2.1 innings of relief and gave up a pair of hits.
  • Amanda Roberts went the distance for Ferrum allowing two runs on six hits to improve to 6-4 on the season.

Location: Ferrum, Va.

The Lead: Courtney Rudd threw a complete game shutout as Ferrum swept RC with the 2-0 win.

How it Happened
  • Rudd allowed just three hits, struck out seven and did not walk a batter on her way to improving her record to 6-4 on the season.
  • Ferrum got the only run it would need when Cheyenne Strickland connected for a homerun in the first inning.
  • Teresa Wagner took the loss for RC, dropping her record to 2-4 on the season. Wagner gave up just two runs on four hits. Courtney Oliver threw two innings of perfect relief.
