The Lead: No. 2 Emory ran its winning streak to 22 games with a doubleheader sweep of Roanoke on Saturday.
How it Happened
- In game one, Brittany File allowed just one run on five hits and struck out 10 in improving to 23-1 on the year.
- The lone Roanoke run came when Taylor Carter launched a homerun in the fourth inning.
- Carter had two of RC's hits, with Katie Smith, Katie Priester and Jordan Meador collecting the others.
- Teresa Wagner took the loss to drop to 2-5. Wagner went 3.1 innings and gave up five runs.
- In game two, Lana Hermann gave Emory all the runs it would need in the first innings when she connected for a grand slam as part of a five run, Eagle first inning.
- Roanoke had four hits on the day, one was a Taylor Sutherland homerun and the other was a Priester solo homer.
- Audrey Weller got the win for Emory after going five innings and allowing three hits to improve to 7-0.
- Taylor Asimakopoulos took the loss for RC after going 1.2 innings, dropping her record to 1-4.
