The Lead: Eight different Maroons recorded at least one hit as Roanoke topped McDaniel 6-2 on Sunday.

How it Happened:
  • Katie Smith doubled home Taylor Slate in the first inning to make 1-0 and Smith would come around to score on a wild pitch to make it 2-0 RC.
  • The Maroons tacked on a run in the next half inning when Taylor Carter doubled home Marleigh Hall to put RC up 3-0.
  • McDaniel scored in the bottom of the second to make it 3-1 before a Erin Forbes infield single plated Becca Wenger to make it 4-1.
  • The Maroons added a pair of insurance runs for Taylor Asimakopoulos who picked up the win after going the first five innings in circle. She allowed just two runs and struck out five before giving way to Emily Salsberry who gave up two hits in two innings of relief.

The Lead: Meredith used a three run fourth inning to take a 3-2 decision over Roanoke on Sunday.

How it Happened:
  • Smith got RC on the board in the third inning when she singled home Jordan Meador to put the Maroons in front 1-0.
  • Later in the third inning, Wenger brought Carter home on a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
  • Meredith rallied in fourth inning, getting RBI singles from Brittany Bucklin, Lauren Marbrey and Haley Erin to get all the runs it would need.
  • Courtney Oliver took the loss for RC, going 3.1 innings and giving up three runs. Teresa Wagner went the rest of the way and allowed just one hit in relief.
