  • Six Maroons Honored for Academic Success
    July 14, 2022
    The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their 2022 Academic All State teams on Thursday morning. Six Maroons were honored for not only their athletic accomplishments, but for their academic success. Four of the six carry a 4.00 Grade Point Average (GPA), while the others sport a 3.974 and 3.966 gpa.
  • Roanoke Duo Named All State

    The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their 2022 All State Softball teams on Tuesday afternoon. Roanoke College would place two on the 2nd team. Shortstop Shanan Hester and pitcher Jada Karnes were honored by the state's communications professionals.
  • Karnes Named All Region

    The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their NCAA DIII All Region teams and for the second year in a row, Roanoke College pitcher Jada Karnes was named to the 3rd team.
  • Roanoke Rally Falls Short
    May 14, 2022
    The Maroons would face The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in an elimination game in the Case Western Reserve Regional of the 2022 NCAA Softball Tournament. TCNJ would use a four-run fourth inning to take control of the matchup. The Maroons would not go quietly as they scored one in the bottom of the fourth and another one inning later to make it a two-run game. However, despite loading the bases twice in the closing innings, the Maroons could not complete the comeback and fell to the Lions 4-2, and would be eliminated from the tournament.
  • One-Run Game For Maroons

    For the first time since 2013, the Roanoke softball team competed in the NCAA Tournament when they made the trip to Cleveland, Ohio to compete in a Regional hosted by Case Western Reserve. The Maroons faced Concordia (Wisconsin) to open the four-team, double elimination, tournament. A fourth inning home run would produce the game’s lone run as Roanoke fell to the Falcons, 1-0.
  • Roanoke Back in NCAA Tournament

    The NCAA Softball National Championship Tournament bids went out on Monday afternoon and the Roanoke college softball team is back in the tournament field for the first time since 2013.
  • Roanoke Places Three on All ODAC Teams

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their 2022 Softball All ODAC teams on Tuesday afternoon. Roanoke would see three players earn all conference honors. Jada Karnes (Pitcher), Shanan Hester (Utility) and Makayla Austin (3rd Base) were named All ODAC in softball.
  • Maroons Play in Championship Series

    Roanoke made it to the Championship Series of the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Championship Tournament. The Maroons would face Virginia Wesleyan, needing to beat the Marlins twice to claim the title. Roanoke raced out to a 4-0 lead but a 3-run home run would make it a one-run game. RC answered with a long ball of their own to win the game, 5-3. In the Championship Game, Roanoke would out-hit the defending champs, 8-3, but couldn’t push across a run. Va. Wesleyan was able to score on a ground out and held on for the 1-0, championship clinching, win.
  • Maroons Earn A Trip To Championship Series

    The Maroons would face the #3 seed Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday morning after the rain washed out the entire Saturday slate. The Marlins jumped on Roanoke and won the game in five innings, 9-1, to send the Maroons into the loser’s bracket. In the game that would see who the Marlins faced in the title game, Roanoke would play Lynchburg for the second time in three days. A one-run over the Hornets would propel Roanoke on Friday night and this afternoon would not be close as Roanoke took out Lynchburg in five-innings, 8-0, and advanced to the Championship series.
  • Roanoke Goes 2-0 on Day One

    Roanoke started the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Tournament as the #4 seed. The Maroons would take on #5 Bridgewater in their opener. An early run was all the Roanoke needed as they defeated the Eagles, 1-0, to advance to face the top-seed, Lynchburg later Friday evening. Roanoke took an early lead against the Hornets but the game would be tied, 1-1, heading into the seventh inning. The Maroons sent two across the plate, but in the bottom half, Lynchburg scored and had loaded the bases. The Maroons registered a strikeout and a ground ball to end the threat and win the game, 3-2.
  • Butler and Hester Named Players of the Week

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon. Roanoke would claim both the baseball and softball ODAC Players of the Week. Connor Butler earned the honor for baseball while Shanan Hester claimed softball Player of the Week.
  • Maroons Claim the #4 Spot

    Roanoke traveled to Eastern Mennonite to wrap up the 2022 regular season. The Maroons would lead 4-2 and then 5-3. However, the Royals would tie the score at 5-5 and the game went into extra innings. Roanoke scored in the top half and kept the home team from crossing home in a 6-5, 8-inning, win. Game two was scoreless before the Maroons put up two in the fourth. That was all the scoring that they would need as a two-hit shutout from the circle would give Roanoke a season ending win, 2-0.
  • Roanoke Walks it Off Against the Panthers
    April 21, 2022
    Roanoke wrapped up the home portion of their regular season when they hosted Ferrum on Thursday afternoon. The Maroons came into the matchup trailing the Panthers by one game in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings. Roanoke loaded the bases in the first inning but couldn’t score. An inning later, the Maroons would get an RBI base hit and that was all they needed as the Roanoke pitching allowed just a single hit by Ferrum en route to a 1-0 win. Four in the first, of game two, would see the Maroons race out to an early lead. Up five runs in the bottom of the sixth, a bases clearing double would end the game early as Roanoke swept the Panthers, 10-2, taking over fifth place in the ODAC standings.
  • Maroons Split With Quakers
    April 16, 2022
    Roanoke hosted Guilford on Senior Day at the James I Moyer complex. The Maroons took a moment to honor their four seniors prior to first pitch with the Quakers. Roanoke recorded 11 runs while getting a perfect game on the mound in an easy win of game one, 11-0. In game two, Roanoke fell behind in the top of the first and could never catch Guilford as the Quakers took the second game, 5-1, to earn a split in Salem.
  • Maroons Split at Bridgewater
    April 13, 2022
    Roanoke traveled to Bridgewater to face the Eagles on Wednesday afternoon for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) double header that would positioning for the 2022 ODAC Softball tournament on the line. The Maroons fell behind in the first inning but a five-run second would put Roanoke in front. Bridgewater made it a game but Roanoke prevailed with the 5-4 win. Game two would see the Eagles jump on their guests early and pulled away in the early innings for the 9-0 victory.
  • Roanoke Takes Pair Form Randolph
    April 10, 2022
    After earning a split at the university of Lynchburg yesterday, the Roanoke softball team was back in the Hill City to face Randolph college in an Old Dominion Athletic conference (ODAC) double header. The Maroons scored a pair if early runs in the opener and held on for a 2-1 win. In game two, Roanoke trailed 5-3 going into the top of the seventh. The Maroons scored five runs on four hits and a pair of Randolph errors to rally for the sweep of the WildCats with an 8-6 victory.
  • Roanoke Splits With Hornets

    The weather forced Roanoke to postpone their mid-week double header, so the Maroons traveled to Lynchburg to face the Hornets having not played in a week. Roanoke raced out to an early lead in the opening game with a pair of 2-run home runs on their way to a 4-2 win. Game two would see a Roanoke rally give the Maroons a 4-3 lead. However, the Hornets would re-rally scoring two in the fifth and two more in the sixth on their way to a 7-5 split.
  • Roanoke Games Rescheduled

    The Roanoke College baseball and softball games that were scheduled for tomorrow, April 5th, have been rescheduled due to forecasted weather.
  • Roanoke Sweeps Shenandoah
    April 02, 2022
    After facing three straight top-25 opponents, Roanoke went on the road to face Shenandoah in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action on Saturday afternoon. A late, 2-run home run in the opening game allowed the Maroons to comeback on the Hornets for a 3-2 win. With the second game tied at 1-1 in the closing innings, Roanoke used a 4-run fifth to complete the sweep of Shenandoah, 5-1.
  • Roanoke Splits With Randolph-Macon
    March 26, 2022
    For the third consecutive double header, the Roanoke softball team challenged a nationally ranked opponent when they welcomed #11 Randolph-Macon to the James I Moyer complex on Saturday afternoon. Roanoke took the opener, 3-2, with a late run. Game two would see the two old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foes take a 3-3 game into extra innings. This time it would be the visiting Yellow Jackets that would take the one-run win, 6-5.
  • Roanoke Falls to #4 CNU
    March 19, 2022
    The Roanoke College softball team made the trip east to face #4 Christopher Newport on Saturday afternoon. The 13th ranked Maroons would look to give the undefeated Captains their first loss of the season. However, it was Christopher Newport that would enjoy the best of it, winning game one 9-0 in five innings. Unfortunately, game two would be more of the same as the Captains completed the sweep with an 8-0 win.
  • #13 Roanoke Sweeps Greensboro

    When the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 poll was released on Monday, the Maroons came in ranked #13 as they welcomed Greensboro College to the Moyer Complex on Thursday afternoon. Roanoke rallied for two runs in the fifth to take game one, 2-1. In game two, the Maroons would take a 2-1 advantage and hold on for the 3-2 win over the Pride.
  • Karnes Named ODAC Pitcher of the Week

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced its multi-sport Athletes of Week on Monday afternoon for week 28 of the 2021-22 season. Roanoke College junior righty Jada Karnes was selected as the ODAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. This is her first career conference weekly honor.
  • Maroons Go 4-2 In Florida
    March 07, 2022
    Roanoke took their perfect, 8-0, record to Florida for eight games during a five-day stretch over Spring Break. Roanoke would lose two games due to weather so the Maroons would finish their trip to the Sunshine state with a 4-2 mark to bring their season record to 12-2.
  • Maroons Remain Perfect

    The Roanoke softball team looked to continue their hot start with the final two games of the 2022 Mountain Mash tournament on Saturday. The Maroons did just that with a 10-0 win over Oneonta, followed by a, 16-0, win over Fredonia State. Roanoke is now 8-0 and have outscored their opponents by a total of 86-4.
  • Roanoke Starts Weekend With Two Wins

    Roanoke College hosted the 2022 Mountain Mash softball tournament at the James Moyer Complex Friday and Saturday. Roanoke would play host to Fredonia State in their first game while taking on Oneonta in the nightcap. The Maroons would score four in the first inning on their way to a 9-0, 5-inning, win over the Blue Devils. In game two, Roanoke once again used a big first inning, five runs, to seize control and pick up the five-inning win, 13-1.  
  • Maroons Remain Perfect

    Roanoke took their 2-0 record on the road for a double header at Southern Virginia on Wednesday afternoon. The Maroons would take the opener, 10-0, and looked to remain perfect in game two. Game two would see a slow start for Roanoke but three home runs later, the Maroons stayed perfect on the season with a 10-2 win.
  • Season Opening Sweep For Roanoke Softball

    The Roanoke College softball team opened the 2022 season with a double header against Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons wasted little time in jumping on their guests with eight runs in the first three innings on their way to an 8-0, five-inning win in their season debut. Roanoke would continue to control things as they completed the sweep of the Panthers with a 10-1, five-inning, win in the game two.
  • Roanoke Picked 3rd In ODAC Poll

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced the results of the 2022 ODAC Softball preseason poll on Tuesday morning. Roanoke received one first place vote on their way to accumulating 64 points and coming in at the #3 spot in the annual poll.
