The Lead: For the first time since 2013, the Roanoke softball team competed in the NCAA Tournament when they made the trip to Cleveland, Ohio to compete in a Regional hosted by Case Western Reserve. The Maroons faced Concordia (Wisconsin) to open the four-team, double elimination, tournament. A fourth inning home run would produce the game's lone run as Roanoke fell to the Falcons, 1-0.   

Highlights:

  • The fourth frame would see two of the game's three hits. In the top half, Meri Bostic reached on an infield single. The subsequent sacrifice bunt attempt was popped up and Bostic stayed put at first. A fly ball and strikeout would strand the Maroon's lone base runner of the afternoon.
  • In the bottom half, Concordia would get a two-out home run to right center to plate the only run of the game.
  • Jada Karnes pitched a complete game, two-hitter, giving up just the one run while striking out a pair.
