SALEM, Va. -- Roanoke softball pitcher Jada Karnes helped the Maroons open the season in Florida has been named the ODAC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office.

Karnes, a senior from Roanoke, pitched two complete games to start the Spring Break trip. In the first game of the season against Concordia-Chicago, she gave up only one run, walked only one, and struck out 11. She came in relief in the second game that day for 1.0 innings of work and struck out two more batters. Two days later she pitched another complete game in a 2-0 shutout over Wentworth where she struck out six more batters. The next day she started and pitched eight innings against Marietta, allowing just one unearned run while striking out five.
