Five Maroons Earn Academic All-District Honors

SALEM, Va. – College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its Academic All-District selections, and five Roanoke softball players were recognized for their performances both in the classroom and on the diamond.

Lilly Burns, Lauryn Chappell, Morgan Clark, Adriana Rivera and Rachel Sirbaugh all earned CSC Academic All-District honors.

To qualify for this designation, student-athletes must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and they must have appeared in at least half of their team's games. The five Maroons who garnered All-District laurels are now eligible for CSC Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on June 7.

Burns, a junior shortstop, has batted .292 with a .538 slugging percentage and 24 runs batted in on her way to a Second Team All-ODAC selection.

Chappell, a senior outfielder, has made 26 appearances this season. She's a .265 career hitter for the Maroons.

Clark, a junior outfielder, has played in 36 games with a .320 batting average. She leads Roanoke with 33 runs and 15 stolen bases.

Rivera, a sophomore infielder and outfielder, has appeared in 37 contests with a .333 average, nine doubles and 19 RBI.

Sirbaugh, a senior catcher and outfielder, has seen action in 29 games with a .253 average, nine extra-base hits and 13 RBI. She was also a Second Team All-ODAC honoree.

After the top-seeded Maroons (27-12) fell to second-seeded Randolph-Macon in the ODAC championship series, they received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Roanoke will compete in regional play in Newport News, VA this weekend, starting with a matchup against Misericordia at 2 p.m. Thursday.
