Caitlyn Long named Honorable Mention VaSID All-State
The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) named junior guard Caitlyn Long honorable mention All-State Team for Women's Basketball (College Division).  It is the first time in her career she has garnered this honor.
 
Christopher Newport's Chelsie Schweers repeated as the Virginia Sports Information Directors College Division State Player of the Year while her coach, Carolyn Hunter, was named State Coach of the Year and Washington & Lee's Meghan Ingram was named Rookie of the Year
 
A two-time All-ODAC selection, Long joined Bridgewater's Jordan Burkholder on the honorable mention team. Randolph-Macon's Molly Arail, Amanda Hiltunen and Lindsay Riesbeck made earned first team honors.
 
A Cave Spring product, Long was the Maroons leading scorer (12 ppg) and long-range threat with 55 three-pointers made. She also finished second in assists (75), steals (43) and led Roanoke in free-throws made (68). After the holiday break, Long led the team in scoring seven times and averaged 14 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Long is currently fifth all-time in career three-pointers (133), with her 74.2% free-throw and 34.4% three-point percentages are among the career top-10 at Roanoke.
 
The Maroons finished with a 23-4 record, which were the most wins since the 1996-97 season. Their 17-3 ODAC mark also matched the 1996-97 team in addition to their 13-game win-streak. The 8-0 start was the best in school-history.
