Womenâ??s Basketball Ranked in top-50 Nationally in Eight Categories

SALEM, Va. --- The Roanoke College Women's basketball team is ranked in the top-50 out of 409 ranked teams nationally in eight different categories. The women are on an eight-game winning streak and are 12-2 on the season, 8-2 in the ODAC.

The Maroon's scoring defense is ranked 17th while their won-loss percentage is ranked 28th. Roanoke is also ranked 41st in scoring margin and field-goal percentage defense.    The women are ranked 67th in assists per game and 30th in assist turnover ratio.
 
Sophomore Jordan Gholson is ranked 32 of out of 50 ranked players in blocked shots per game.   Gholson has recorded a school-record five first-half blocked shots this season and has 28 blocks to tie Crystal Wilson ('94)  for sixth on the top-10 single-season mark. She is the team's leading scorer with 12.3 ppg.
 
Jaleesa Osborne continues to have a sensational season as she is ranked 18th nationally in assist turnover ratio. Osborne leads the team in steals (36) and assists (54). She is second in points, averaging 10.8 per game.  Osborne's 174 career steals ranks her eighth on the all-time steals list at Roanoke. She needs 10 more to tie Marcee Hufton ('96) for seventh.
 
Roanoke will travel to Greensboro to face Guilford on Jan. 24th. The Maroons hold a 26-13 series advantage against the Quakers and have won the last three meetings.
