Roanoke Pulls Away From Washington and Lee, 55-41
 SALEM, Va--- Roanoke cruised to a 55-41 victory over conference-rival Washington and Lee Friday evening at the Bast Center. The Maroons improved to 12-5, 11-2 in ODAC play, while the Generals fell to 13-6, 9-5 in the conference.
 
With the victory, Roanoke was able to sweep the season-series against Washington and Lee. Head Coach Susan Dunagan improved to 31-4 against the Generals in her career, coaching in every contest that the two teams have played.
 
The Maroons set the tone early in the first half, racing out to a 12-0 lead over the first seven minutes of action. They continued to pour it on throughout the half, leading by as many as 21 points with just over three minutes to play. However, W&L closed the half on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 30-17.
 
The Generals fought their way back into the game in the second half, cutting the lead to single digits, 36-28 just seven minutes into play.  Back-to-back Kendra Porter (Jamestown, NC, Dudley) layups pushed the lead back to double figures. Roanoke coasted the rest of the way, never allowing Washington and Lee to get any closer than nine.
 
Jordan Gholson (Louisa, VA, Louisa County) led the Maroons with 18 points and nine boards. She moved her into 11th place on the all-time scoring list at Roanoke, passing Katrina Williams (Salem, VA, Glenvar). She passed Nancy Cottrell (Toano, Va, Walsingham Academy) and Barb Reahl (Baltimore, MD) to move into ninth on the all-time rebounds list with 595.
 
Rebecca Bays (Roanoke, VA, William Byrd) added six points, six assists and career-highs of six steals and 10 caroms  on the night. Her six dimes moved her into 10th on the career assists list at Roanoke.  Porter chipped in seven points, five rebounds, and two steals.  Nicci Moats (Blue Ridge, VA, Lord Botetourt) finished with seven markers, six boards, and three blocked shots.
 
Katy Wilson paced the Generals with 10 points and rebounds. Meg Ingram chipped in nine points and five assists while Becca Bolton added eight points and five boards.
 
Roanoke returns to action as they travel to Harrisonburg to take on Eastern Mennonite tomorrow Feb. 5th. Tip-off is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
