Game Notes vs. Hollins - Women's Basketball
The women's basketball team hosts Hollins in the second game of a Roanoke Hoops doubleheader at 4 p.m. held at the Bast Center. It will be senior day for Kendra Porter, Rebecca Bays, Kylie Lucas, Sydney Webb and Bethany Holland.
 
Last Night's Game vs. Randolph
Roanoke raced out to a 32-9 lead and never looked back in a 73-41 victory over Randolph in ODAC action Friday evening. The win improved the Maroons to 14-6 overall, 13-3 in conference play. The Wildcats remained winless at 0-22, 0-17 in the ODAC.
 
The Maroons shot 44.6% for the game, including 53.1% in the first half as they held a 44-23 halftime lead. Roanoke held Randolph to only 18 points in the second stanza, as the game ended in just an hour and 19-minutes. There were only 16 fouls called on the night.
 
RC out-rebounded Randolph, 47-32 and held the Wildcats to just 28.8% shooting on the night. Roanoke outscored Randolph, 32-12 in the paint, 22-4 off the bench and the Maroons scored 18 points off 20 Wildcat turnovers.
 
Nicci Moats (Blue Ridge, VA, Lord Botetourt) led the charge for Roanoke with her 11th double-double of the season with 19 points and 16 rebounds. She shot 8-of-13 from the floor, 3-of-3 from the line and added four blocked shots and two steals. 
 
Her 61 blocked shots on the season tie teammate Jordan Gholson's 2009-10 season total for second on the single-season list. Gholson has the school-record with 67 from the 2008-09 season.
 
Hannah Davidson (Pulaski, VA, Pulaski County) scored 12 points, shooting 5-of-7 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc in just 18 minutes of action. Kylie Lucas (Verona, VA, Fort Defiance) contributed seven points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Bethany Holland (Fincastle, Va, Buffalo Gap) added six points and five boards.
 
About the Maroons
Roanoke (14-6, 13-3 ODAC) has been paced by Nicci Moats, who is leading the Maroons in scoring (15.6 ppg), rebounding (11.1 rpg) and blocked shots (61) while second in steals (30). Jordan Gholson (13.3 ppg) is averaging 6.5 rebounds and is shooting a team-best 58% from the floor and 76.5% from the free-throw line. She has 29 blocked shots and 26 steals on the year as well.
