Junior center Nicci Moats (Blue Ridge, VA, Lord Botetourt) was named Richmond-Times Dispatch 2010-11 Women's Basketball First-Team All-State announced Tuesday. It is the first time in her career she has earned this recognition.

 

Moats, a junior center, leads the ODAC in rebounding (11.6 rpg) and blocked shots (81) this season en route to earning First-Team All-ODAC honors. The school's single-season record holder in blocked shots, Moats was ranked nationally in double-doubles (19^th), blocked shots per game (21^st) and rebounding (24^th). She was named Tournament MVP of the Randolph-Macon Tip-Off Classic.

 

A two-sport athlete at Roanoke (volleyball), Moats leads the Maroons in scoring (16.1 ppg) and free-throws made (92) while second in steals (44). She had nine 20-point games this season and 15 double-doubles, including six-straight in the last eight games.

 

The Maroons finished the year, 19-8 and advanced to the ODAC Championship for the first time since the 2002-03 season.
