With this win, Roanoke moves to 7-14, 7-10 in ODAC play, while Hollins is now 9-13 and 7-10 against conference opponents.
The Maroons jumped out to an early lead, as they were up 9-2 just three minutes into the contest. At the the 7:24 mark, Laurel Hankins knocked down a three to maintain the team's lead of five.
Through the end of the first half, Roanoke led as many as nine, but finished ahead by eight, 34-26.
As the Maroons entered the second half, they extended their lead to 11 off of a trey from Paxton Gwin. Hollins went on a 12-2 run that ended with a layup from Chanci Wright. After their run, Roanoke only led by three, 45-42.
But, Roanoke pushed their lead back up to as many as 16 on two occasions after free throws from Gwin and Hankins. As the final buzzer sounded, the MAroons picked up their third straight win, 74-60.
Laurel Hankins led the team with 22 points, and was 4-6 from behind the arc. Just behind Hankins was Tatum McKee who shot 8-10 from the field for 18 points. McKee also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Paxton Gwin finished with 16 points while Rachel Dellahunt led the team with six assists.
The Maroons will return to action Tuesday, February 14th as they travel to Lynchburg for ODAC action. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.
