Maroons On Three Game ODAC Win Streak, Defeat Washington and Lee 58-47
LEXINGTON – The Roanoke College women's basketball team picked up their third consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference win on Wednesday, defeating Washington and Lee 58-47.  The Maroons now have a record of 8-10, 4-5 in ODAC play, while the Generals are 6-9, 3-6 in the ODAC.

With today's win, head coach Susan Dunagan is only three wins shy of number 600 for her career.  Both the program and ODAC career wins leader, the 32-year coaching legend will become only the ninth in NCAA Division III history to reach the career milestone.

Tatum McKee led the Maroons with 17 points, shooting 7-11 from the field with five rebounds.  McKee was followed in scoring by Laurel Hankins, who tallied 14 points and seven rebounds.  Paxton Gwin also put up double-digit scoring with 10 points and a team high eight rebounds.

Hankins and Rachel Dellehunt opened the first half with layups to get Roanoke off to a 4-0 start in the contest.  The Maroons were able to build their lead to five in the first seven minutes of the contest, leading 7-2 with 13:20 on the clock.  Over the next seven minutes, the Generals were able to outscore the Maroons 19-7, to take a seven point, 21-14 lead with 7:31 on the clock.  Anna Carter, Katie Deacon and Paxton Gwin responded with layups to pull Roanoke back within one 21-20.  Kelsey Smith hit a layup in the final moments of the first half to allow Roanoke to enter the locker room with a 30-29 advantage.

Roanoke held its advantage, seeing a surge of scoring from Tatum McKee at the 15:00 mark, as she hit three consecutive baskets to put the Maroons up seven, 42-35.  The Generals cut in to Roanoke's lead, as Rachel Warrick scored six of Washington and Lee's next eight points to take a 45-44 lead.  Neither team made a basket for the next three minutes until Hankins knocked down a trey that put Roanoke up two, 47-45 with 7:33 to play.

Over the final seven minutes, Roanoke outscored 11-2 to seal its third straight ODAC victory, defeating Washington and Lee 58-47.

The Generals were led in scoring by Rachel Warrick, who put up 16 points in the effort.  Shelbi Hendricks finished the contest with 10 points, while Katy Wilson led all players in rebounds with 11.
