Gwin Posts Fourth Double-Double in Six Games in Roanoke Loss to Guilford
SALEM – Paxton Gwin posted her fourth double-double in six games in the Roanoke College women's basketball team's 68-61 loss to Guilford College on Tuesday.  The Maroons now have a record of 8-12, 4-7 in ODAC play, while the Quakers are 17-3, 10-1 in the ODAC.

Paxton Gwin led the Maroons with 19 points and 11 rebounds.  She was followed in scoring by freshman Kelsey Smith, who scored 10 points, shooting 3-5 from behind the arc.  Rachel Dellehunt continued to lead the team in assists with five, while Tatum Mckee tallied four steals on the evening.

The Maroons jumped out to an early 7-2 lead as Gwin and Smith hit treys, followed by a Smith free throw.  The Quakers went on a 11-6 run to tie the game up at 13-13 at the 13:44 mark in the first half.  The two teams battled back and forth, tying the game up over the next six minutes, until Logan Hardin hit a layup to put Guilford ahead 24-22 with 7:18 to play.  The Quakers outscored Roanoke 10-0 through the 3:00 mark, until Rachel Dellehunt nocked down a jumper to stop the rally.  Gwin finished the half with a pair of free throws that brought Roanoke back within seven, 36-29.

Guilford's Morgan King and Gabby Oglesby knocked down jumpers to open the half, until Laurel Hankins responde with a three pointer to bring Roanoke within eight, 40-32.  The Quakers built a 15-point lead that ran through the 7:13 mark, but Kelsey Smith hit a three-pointer followed by a Dellehunt layup to bring Roanoke back within nine, 59-50.  With 1:22 to play, Gwin drained a trey to bring to a six point deficit, 66-60.  However, Guilford was able to hold on as the Maroons fell 68-61 in ODAC play.

Morgan King was the top scorer of the game, posting 20 points to go along with her 12 rebounds.  She was followed in scoring by Brittany Atwater who finished with nine points.  Atwater also led the team in assists with seven.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, February 2nd as they travel to Ashland to face off against Randolph-Macon in ODAC action.  That contest is scheduled for a 2:00 PM tip-off.
