Roanoke Scores 100 in Victory over Randolph-Macon on Saturday
ASHLAND – Six Maroons scored in double figures on Saturday as the Roanoke College women's basketball team defeated Randolph-Macon, 100-82 on Saturday afternoon.  The Maroons now have a record of 9-12, 5-7 in ODAC play, while the Yellow Jackets are 5-16, 4-8 in the ODAC.

The total of 100 points by the Maroons ranks as the fourth most points scored by the women's basketball team in a game.  The all-time record is 112 as Roanoke defeated Mary Baldwin in the 1979-80 season.  Another important record to note is that head coach Susan Dunagan picked up her 598th win, just two shy of all-time win number 600, making her the tenth in NCAA Division III history to do so.

Paxton Gwin led the Maroons with 23 points, shooting 4-6 from behind the three-point line.  She also finished with seven rebounds and a team high four steals.  She was followed in scoring by Tatum McKee who put up 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds.  Also in double-digits for the Maroons were Kelsey Smith (16), Laurel Hankins (13), Rachel Dellehunt (11) and Meghan Gadell (11).  McKee and Dellehunt tied for a team-high in assists with five each.

The Maroons got off to a hot start in the first half, opening with a 14-0 run.  During that streak, Gwin and Hankins each had five points.  The Yellow-Jackets scored their first point at the 14:30 mark, and pulled within two 19-17 by 10:48.  The Maroons responded as Hankins knocked down a three-pointer, followed by two more treys from Smith to go up 28-20.  McKee went on to hit a pair of free throws to give Roanoke a 10 point lead with 8:22 to play in the half.  The Maroons held a 10-point advantage through the end of the first half, entering the locker room up 48-39.

Roanoke held its steady advantage for the first few minutes of the second half until the Yellow Jackets went on a run that pulled them within two, 61-59 with 13:24 to play.  Gwin quickly drained a three to get the ball rolling again for Roanoke.  By 9:48, the Maroons had built a 14-2 run to take an 11-point lead.  The Maroons held their 11 point lead through the 3:50 mark where Dellehunt and Gadell hit back-to-back three-pointers to extend the lead to 17.  Free throws by Anna Carter in the final seconds of the game pushed Roanoke over the 100-point threshold, a mark only reached four times in school history.

The Yellow Jackets had two players scoring over 20 points in the game.  Katie Anderson led the team with 23 points, to go along with nine rebounds, while Sarah Parsons finished with 21 points.  Also in double figures were Lindsey Sharman (16), Hannah Livermon (11), and Kellie Cortina (10).  Madison Dulaney all players in the contest with 10 assists.

The Maroons shot over 50 percent from the field for the third time in six games, making 51.8 percent of their shots.  They outshot the Yellow Jackets 63.6 to 30.4 percent from behind the arc, Roanoke's best mark of the season.  The Maroons also outrebounded Randolph-Macon 45-38, and led in assists 20-19.

The Maroons return to action on Tuesday, February 5th as they travel to Lynchburg for ODAC play.  That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM tip-off.
