Paxton Gwin Named ODAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
FOREST – Junior Paxton Gwin was named ODAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced this afternoon.  This is the first time that she has garnered the honor, and she is the first Roanoke College women's basketball player to be named Player of the Week since January 10th, 2011 when Nicci Moats won the award.

Gwin, from Buxton, NC, had an outstanding two games over the last week. She scored 22 points in Roanoke's 67-64 victory over Hollins University on February 13th.  In that contest she gathered seven rebounds and dished out two assists.  In Saturday's game against Bridgewater College, Gwin put up a career high 31 points, shooting 9-12 from the field.  She had six rebounds, one block and was 3-3 from behind the arc.  In both games combined, Gwin shot a perfect 16-16 from the free throw line.
She currently ranks fourth in the ODAC in scoring, netting 16.0 points per game.  She also ranks fifth in field goal percentage (47.2%), third in total points scored (401) and second in total field goals made (154)

The Maroons are back in action tonight, Monday, February 18th as they host the opening round of the ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament.  Roanoke takes on Randolph-Macon in the Bast Center at 7:00 PM.  The Winner of that game will play against Guilford College on Thursday, February 21st in the Salem Civic Center at 6:00 PM.
