Roanoke had a season that was full of milestones. Early in the season, the Susan Dunagan picked up her 600th career win in a 80-43 victory over York College. Entering the season only 45 coaches in Division I, II and III had reached the 600 win plateau. The Maroons were able to cap the season with Paxton Gwin being named ODAC Player of the Year as well as First Team All-ODAC, and Laurel Hankins being named Third Team All-ODAC. Gwin finished the season with 1,349 points, ranking sixth all-time at Roanoke College.

Lynchburg started the contest out on a 9-0 run that spanned the first two and a half minutes. Tatum McKee broke up the streak with a three pointer at 17:23. Bridget Holleran and McKee hit layups during the 15 minute mark that spurred a 9-2 run, pulling the Maroons back within three, 15-12. The run helped the Maroons get back within five, 49-44 with 9:30 to play in the contest. After a Lynchburg free throw, Hankins hit the front end of a one and one, keeping the game at five, 50-45 with 7:50 to play. At 6:55, Hankins dropped in another layup, cutting the deficit to three, 50-47. Lynchburg's Charmaine Hariston marched down the floor on the next possession, knocking down a trey, and extending the lead back to six. Roanoke called a time-out with 5:50 to play after the Hornets Chaney Forbush slipped in a layup for an eight point, 55-47 lead.

Beckwith and McKee hit free throws to get back to six, but the Hornets' Shannon Allen hit a three pointer to push the advantage back to nine with 3:54 to play. Beckwith scored an old-fashioned three point play bringing the game back to six, 58-52. Missed Roanoke layups gave Lynchburg opportunity to build the lead again, going ahead by 10 after Shannon Allan free throws. With 16 seconds to play, the Maroons had gotten back within six after a Gwin jumper. After a Lynchburg free throw, Hankins knocked down a trey to get the Maroons back to a four point deficit. The Maroons would score once more in the final seconds, but fell to the Hornets 68-64 in the ODAC Quarterfinal game.
