The Lead: Carrie Beahm scored 22 points and Roanoke shot close to 50% as a team as the Maroons topped Swarthmore 78-58 in the first day of the 2016 Susan Dunagan Holiday Inn Classic in Salem.

How it Happened:
  • Beahm was joined in double-figures by Kelsey Smith with 14 points and Bridget Holleran who had 10 points.
  • The Maroons held a 46-30 edge on the glass led by Ellen Wagner who had a game-high eight rebounds. Anna Carter, Jamella Foster and Beahm all finished with six rebounds.
  • Abbey Deckard led Swarthmore with 16 points and Bridget Scott came off the bench to score 11.
  • RC made 33-of-67 shots from the floor including 60.6% in the second-half, making 20-of-33 shots in the second stanza.
  • With the Maroons leading 17-10 in the second period, RC went on a 10-4 run opening up a 27-14 edge on a Victoria Maxwell bucket with four minutes to go in the half.
  • Roanoke extended its lead to 19 points by scoring 14 of the first 19 points of the second-half, taking a 48-29 lead on a Beahm basket with just over seven minutes to go in the third.
