RC Women's Hoops Notches Fourth Win a Row With a Victory over Wesleyan  73-46

The Lead: Behind 28 points and 12 rebounds from Cary Beahm, the Roanoke Women's Basketball team topped Wesleyan 73-46 in the final day of the 2016 Susan Dunagan Holiday Inn Classic in Salem.

How it Happened
  • The Maroons have now won four games in a row and five out of their last six contests all together.
  • Beahm, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the classic, was joined on the all-classic team by teammate Kelsey Smith who scored eight points, had six points and added six assists in in Sunday. Bridget Holloran scored six points and dished out five assists.
  • Beahm, along with Wagner who had eight rebounds helped Roanoke win the rebounding battle by a 50-32 margin. The Maroons shot 30-of-62 (48.4%) from the field and RC assisted on 24 of those 30 made field goals.
  • The first quarter was tight with RC holding a slim 18-12 lead after the first 10 minutes.
  • The Maroons scored the first eight points of the second period taking a 26-12 lead on a bucket by Beahm with 8:32 to go in the half. With RC leading by 10, the Maroons went on a 9-0 run, opening up a 37-18 edge on jumper by Lauren Taylor with just under three minutes to play.
  • Roanoke held a 38-21 lead at the break and opened up the second half with a 17-4 run to put the game away.
