The Lead: Washington and Lee outscored Roanoke by 12 in the third period to propel the Generals to a 77-59 win over the Maroons on Sunday in ODAC Women's Basketball action.
How it Happened
- Roanoke was led by Cary Beahm who had 18 points in the loss. Bridget Holleran had 14 points, while Anna Carter scored 10 for RC.
- Emily Perszyk scored 27 points for the Generals, while Jackie Clifford added 20.
- After the first quarter came to a close with the teams knotted at 14-14, W&L was able to open up a 24-19 lead on a Clifford bucket with just under seven minutes to play in the half.
- RC responded with a 9-2 run and pushed ahead 28-26 on a Carter lay up with 4:26 to go.
- The Generals would finish the half 11-2 run capped by a Clifford three-pointer with under a minute to play.
- Washington and Lee opened the second stanza with a 14-4 run, taking a 51-34 lead with 6:22 to go in the period.
