How it Happend
  • Roanoke was led by Kelsey Smith who had 16 points. Cary Beahm had 13 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, while Anna Carter had 10 points for RC.
  • Crystal Strother led VWC with a game-high 22 points. Jayla Harris had 15 points, while Kelly Jones chipped in with 11 for the Marlins.
  • VWC was able to jump out to a 24-13 lead after the first quarter, capitalizing on offensive rebounding that led to 13 second-chance points.
  • The Maroons chipped away and a Morgan Hufford jumper with just under two minutes to go in the half sent the teams to the intermission with VWC leading 34-27.
  • Roanoke came out and scored the first six points of second half getting baskets by Smith, Ellen Wagner and Carter to make it 34-33.
  • VWC responded with a 17-4 run with a Harris basket making it 51-37 with two minutes to go in the third period.
  • An 8-2 to run to end the third period and start the fourth cut RC's deficit to 53-47 with seven minutes to play, but that would be as close as it would get as VWC scored the next six points to push its lead back to 12.
