The Lead: Cary Beahm scored 25 points and added 15 rebounds as the Roanoke Women's Basketball team scored a 78-68 ODAC victory over Bridgewater Monday evening in Salem.
How it Happened
- Beahm was joined in double-figures by Bridget Holleran who had 17 points to go along with seven assists and four steals. Anna Carter scored 12 points and grabbed seven boards for the Maroons.
- Bridgewater was led by Jessi Strom who had 18 points on six three-pointers. Oshene Kelly scored 10 points and nabbed 10 rebounds, while Jessica Lam scored 14 points.
- RC shot 48.4% for the game, making 30-of-62 shot from the field. The Maroons forced 11 steals and assisted on 20 of their 30 made field goals.
- With the score tied at 13-13 with just under five minutes to go in the opening frame, RC went on a 8-0 run to take a 21-13 edge on a layup by Holleran.
- The run would stretch into the second quarter as RC tallied the first six points to take a 27-13 lead Beahm bucket with 6:12 to go in the half.
- RC took a 38-29 lead into the locker room at the intermission and then opened up the second-half by scoring seven of the first nine points, taking a 45-31 advantage on Beahm jumper.
- The Maroons took a 17 point lead on a Allison Yeaw three-pointer with 8:28 to go in the game. BC battled back to cut the deficit to nine with 3:45 to play in the game, but a free-throw by Holleran and a Kelsey Smith lay up to put RC back up by 12.
