The Lead: Despite Bridget Holleran setting her career-high in points with 20, Roanoke fell to Lynchburg by a score of 75-63.

How it happened
  • In addition to her 20 points, Holleran also grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists.
  • Cary Beahm pitched in with 19 points and six rebounds. Jamella Foster and Kelsey Smith added 12 and 10 points, respectively and Smith also had a team-high six assists.
  • RC was 29-of-65 from the field and Lynchburg shot a similar 29-of-66, but the difference maker was foul shooting as LC went 13-of-17 from the charity stripe, while the Maroons only made five trips total to the line.
  • A Charmaine Hairston jumper gave Lynchburg the 19-18 edge at the end of a back-and-forth first period.
  • Roanoke was down 34-33 with 1:26 left in the second period until Lynchburg strung together several baskets to give the Hornets a 38-33 lead going into the half.
  • The Maroons battled back in the third period after back-to-back buckets from Smith and Foster to only be down 48-46 going into the final frame.
  • With 0:33 to go in the fourth period, Roanoke cut the score to 67-63, but Lynchburg went 6-of-7 from the foul line in the final minute to clinch the victory.
