The Lead: Bridgewater outlasted Roanoke in double overtime as the Eagles topped the Maroons 90-83 in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday.

How it Happened:
  • RC's Bridget Holleran nearly missed a triple-double tying her career-high with 20 points to go along with 10 assists and eight rebounds. Cary Beahm scored 25 points, while Ellen Wagner had a career-high 16 points for RC. Jamella Foster had nine points and Jasmine Agee grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds off the bench for the Maroons.
  • Burkholder led BC with 24 points, while Jessica Lam had 19 and Brian Moore had 14 points off the bench for the Eagles. Burkholder had nine rebounds to help BC to a 52-45 edge on the glass.
  • The Maroons found themselves down 65-53 after Lam converted a three-point play with eight minutes remaining in the game.
  • Back-to-back buckets by Foster and Holleran sparked what would prove to be a 14-3 run by the Maroons, cutting the BC lead to one at 68-67 when Holleran knocked down two free-throws with just over here minutes to go in the game.
  • BC took a three-point lead with 1:10 to go in the contest but a Holleran layup and a Beahm free-throw would tie the game at 72-72 with 34 seconds to play.
  • The Eagles used free-throws to take a two point lead but Foster would send the game to extra time when she made a basket with just five seconds to go in regulation.
  • Each team scored six points in the first overtime. Wagner gave RC an 80-79 lead with 11 seconds left but BC was able to tie the game when Burkholder converted one-of-two from the free-throw line with just a second left on the clock.
  • In the second OT, Wagner tied the game at 82-82 with just over three minutes to play, but BC would score the eight of the final nine points, including six from the foul line to earn the win.
Up Next: Roanoke will be the No. 8 seed in the ODAC Tournament and will host No. 9 Virginia Wesleyan on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. The two teams split their two games this season, with each winning at home. The winner Monday gets top-seed Lynchburg on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in quarterfinal action at the Salem Civic Center.
