The Lead: Roanoke notched a 77-49 win over Hollins Wednesday night in ODAC Women's Basketball action.
How it Happened:
- Cary Beahm led the Maroons with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Allison Yeaw added a career-high 18 points while Bridget Holleran tallied 15 points in the victory.
- Sally Sroge led Hollins with 15 points while Nicolette Valencia added 13.
- The Maroons opened up the scoring with a layup by Allison Livengood, but Hollins took the lead with a three-pointer by Porsha Waddey. Hollins maintained the lead to close the first quarter 13-10.
- Hollins held the lead through the second quarter when Yeaw knocked down a pair of free throws to put the Maroons up 20-19. Roanoke notched eight unanswered points going into the final minutes, ending the half with a 32-25 advantage.
- Roanoke outscored Hollins 14-0 in opening five minutes of the second half before going on to close the third quarter with a 55-30 edge.
- RC maintained its lead through the final period as the Maroons took their biggest lead of the night with a layup from Molly Hassell to put the Marrons up 75-43.
