Beahm Named ODAC Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Second-Team All-ODAC

Salem, Va. – Roanoke College senior Cary Beahm was named the 2017 Old Dominion Athletic Conference - ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's basketball on Thursday. Beahm was also named Second-Team All-ODAC on the court.

Beahm, a Dendron, Va. native, maintains a 3.97 grade point average with Criminal Justice and Sociology majors and a minor in Psychology. A 2016 Third Team Academic All-American, she is in line for a second such honor after earning a spot on the 2017 Academic All-District Team. She is a perennial member of the Roanoke College Dean's List and President's List of Distinguished Students. She is a member of several national honor societies including Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership), National Honor Society of Leadership and Success, and those associated with her areas of study.

On the court, Beahm earned spot on the All-ODAC Second Team this season, combining that with a first team award in 2016. She is second in the ODAC in scoring at 19.8 points per game, having made 194 field goals, which tops the ODAC charts. She is second in rebounding at 9.2 boards per game, and fifth in field goal shooting at 50.3 percent.
