Alquiza Named ODAC Player of the Week

Renee Alquiza was named ODAC Player of the Week

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon and Roanoke College senior Renee Alquiza was named ODAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

This past week, the Maroons ran their overall record to 8-0 including a perfect 4-0 in conference play. On Saturday, Roanoke traveled to Lynchburg to face the Hornets in a rematch of the 2021 ODAC Women's Basketball Championship game, won by Lynchburg 67-61. Alquiza shot 72.7% from the field, including 3-5 from, long range, as the Maroons won the rematch, 69-58. Renee scored a game high 19 points to go with three rebounds and an assist in the win. Earlier in the week, the forward scored 14 points in another conference win over Shenandoah. For the week, Alquiza averaged 16.5 points, three rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 54.5% from the field and 6-11 from the three-point line. For the past two weeks, the undefeated Roanoke squad has received votes in the D3hoops.com and the WBCA NCAA DIII Women's Top 25 polls.
