Gina Valles earns Third ODAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Honor this Season

Sophomore midfielder Gina Valles has been named ODAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the third time this season announced this afternoon. It is the fifth time in her short career the she has earned the weekly honor.
The South Windsor, CT native tallied eight goals and five assists for 13 points in two games last week with seven groundballs, three groundballs and four caused turnovers. Valles had five goals and four assists in limited action against Bridgewater, which sealed the Maroons' #1 seed in the ODAC Tournament. The Westminster product also scored three goals, including the game-winner with 28-seconds remaining to defeat CNU, 10-9 in a come-from-behind victory.
Roanoke (#20 IWLCA Div. III Poll) is currently 12-4 overall, 7-0 in the ODAC which puts them atop the ODAC Standings. With the win over Bridgewater, the women clinched a #1 seed in the ODAC Tournament. The Maroons defeated Bridgewater, 17-1 and Christopher Newport, 10-9 in a come-from-behind win last week. The Captains are 9-4 and currently first in the USA-South Standings with a 4-0 mark.
The women will host Hollins on Friday, April 17 in the regular season finale. The Maroons are 28-2 in the series since 1978 and haven't lost since 1979. With the win, the Maroons can capture their first undefeated conference record and regular season crown since 1999. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
