#2 Salisbury Downs Roanoke, 21-7

SALISBURY, Md. --- Salisbury jumped out to a 13-2 halftime lead and cruised to a 21-7 win over Roanoke on Sunday afternoon. The Maroons dropped to 1-3 on the season while the Sea Gulls remain undefeated with a 7-0 mark.

Roanoke, which received votes in the IWLCA Top-20 poll for the 11th-straight week dating back to last season, dropped the third-straight meeting against the Sea Gulls to even the series at 3-3. The Maroons are now 1-2 against teams ranked in the IWLCA Top-20 poll this season.

Salisubury, ranked #2 in the latest IWLCA Top-20 poll, outshot Roanoke, 38-19, including a 32-14 shots on goal advantage. The Sea Gulls won 18-of-30 draw controls, 11-for-17 in clear attempts and held a slim groundballs advantage (16-14). Roanoke was 7-of-14 in clears for the game.

Gina Valles (South Windsor, CT, Westminster )had two goals and an assist, followed by Carolyn Miller (Clinton, MD, St. Mary's Ryken), who scored a season-high two goals. Mary Kate Cummings (Springfield, VA, South County)added a goal and an assist.

Elizabeth Hartge (Easton, MD, Easton)collected a team-best three groundballs. Cristen Sanfilippo (Sparks, MD, Hereford)won three draw controls.

Roxanne Raab led Salisbury with four goals and one assist. Logan Bilderback (3g, 1a) and Kim Cudmore (2g, 2a) finished with four points each.

Cristina Scicolone (South Yarmouth, MA, Nauset Regional)started in goal for the Maroons and had seven saves in the first half, with three groundballs. Laura Zdziarski (Gainesville, FL, Buchholz)had three second half saves in her first collegiate game between the pipes. For the Sea Gulls, Julie Ann Caufield, Keli Berkman and Caity Coleman combined for seven saves.

The women return home on Wednesday, March 17 as they host Lynchburg in the Maroons ODAC-opener. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Kerr Stadium.
