Meegan Rourke named ODAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Senior Meegan Rourke (Greenwich, CT, Millbrook School) was named ODAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time in her career that she has garnered the weekly honor. It is also the second Maroon this spring to claim the award.
Rourke, a midfielder, scored nine goals and dished out two assists with eight draw controls in two games last week. She scored five goals and won six draw controls in a 17-13 loss to #8 Cortland St. Against CNU, Rourke led the way with four goals and two assists, including a won draw control and the eventual game-winner in a one-goal victory.
For the season, she has 22 goals and six assists for 28 points on the season. She has totaled 51 shots, 41 on goal for an impressive .804 shots on goal percentage. Rourke leads the Maroons in draw controls (29) while second in caused turnovers (15) and groundballs (21).
Roanoke is currently 4-3, 1-0 in the ODAC. The Maroons went 1-1 last week after falling to Cortland St. on Friday and knocking off previously unbeaten Christopher Newport, 13-12 in non-conference action.
The women return to action this weekend, March 26-27 as they travel to Bridgewater (Sat) and Sweet Briar (Sun) in ODAC action.
