Evarts Earns Top Honor; Five Slated for 2012 Women's Lacrosse All-ODAC Team
FOREST, Va. --- Washington and Lee University midfielder Christina Benedetti headlines the 2012 All-ODAC Women's Lacrosse Teams as she was named ODAC Player of the Year on Monday. Guilford College mentor Matthew Grosso earned ODAC Coach of the Year accolades, and Roanoke College midfielder Darragh Evarts was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year. Randolph-Macon College midfielder Rachel Johnsen was named the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete in a vote of the league's sports information directors.

Evarts, a freshman from Goldens Bridge, N.Y., stepped in and contributed big numbers up-and-down the field for the Maroons. She notched 66 points on 54 goals and 12 assists. She recorded three or more points in a game 11 times with a high of eight (7 goals, 1 assist) in early April. She also picked up an ODAC fourth-best 50 ground balls and corralled 61 draws. Defensively, she caused 33 turnovers, the third highest total in the conference.

Evarts, along with Allison Bonanno, Elizabeth Hartge, and Kathleen Wager earned first-team All-ODAC honors. Bonanno led the Maroons with 55 goals and 45 assists, totalling 100 points in 2012. She finished the season with two game winning goals, 21 ground balls, and 18 forced turnovers. Hartge earned the nod at the defender position. She led the team with 59 ground balls and 36 forced turnovers. Hartge gathered 54 draw controls, ranking third on the Maroon squad. She also scored nine goals and dished out two assists on the offensive end. Kathleen Wager ranked second on the team in total points, netting 51 goals and dishing out 24 assists. Wager also ranked second on the squad in draw controls (58) and forced turnovers (33). Wager finished the season with 48 ground balls and three game winning goals.

Stephanie Vogel earned third team accolades for her performance in the 2012 season. Vogel played and started in all 17 games for the Maroons. She finished the season with 16 ground balls and 10 draw controls. She also forced opponents to turn over the ball 14 times.
