Women's Lacrosse Falls to #2 Ranked Salisbury University on Sunday
SALEM - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team fell to #2 ranked Salisbury University on Sunday, 20-10. The Maroons now have a record of 0-3, while the Seagulls are now 4-0.

Salisbury jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, scoring three goals in the first 2:30 of the contest. The Maroons got their first goal of the game at the 26:43 mark in the first half as Darragh Evarts found the back of the net off a pass from Allison Bonanno. Salisbury responded as Lauren Feusahrens scored her third goal of the game at the 26:15 mark, putting Salisbury ahead 4-1. Roanoke and Salisbury traded two goals each over the next four minutes, with Bonanno and Evarts scoring for the Maroons. With 19:50 to play in the half, Roanoke trailed 6-3.

Over the course of the next five minutes, the Seagulls created some separation from the Maroons, scoring five consecutive goals to build an 11-3 lead. Kathleen Wager scored her first goal of the game at 11:50 to try and cut the defecit. Evarts scored Roanoke's last goal through the end of the period at 6:01, while the Seagulls netted four by the end of the half, as the teams entered halftime with Salsbury ahead 15-5.

Roanoke turned things around in the second half as Wager and Jamie Golden scored back-to-back goals for the Maroons. Their two goals brought the Maroons within eight, 15-7. The Seagulls scored two goals of their own, from Maggie Roundy and Samantha Duranti to build the Salisbury lead back to 10. The Maroons found the groove again, as over the course of three minutes, Evarts, Bonanno, and Briana Storey found the back of the net. With 14:25 to play, Roanoke trailed by seven, 17-10. However, over the last 10 minutes, the Seagulls scored three more times, to earn the 20-10 victory.

Darragh Evarts led the Maroons with four goals, while Kathleen Wager and Allison Bonanno had two goals each. Bonanno also led the team in assists with five on the afternoon. Lauren Curtin played 40 minutes in goal and tallied eight saves.

Lauren Feusahre led the Seagulls in scoring with four goals, followed by Samantha Duran, Shelby Nemecek and Maggie Roundy with three each. Katie Bollhorst had a team high two assists. Ashton Wheatley picked up the victory for Salisbury, tallying four saves.

Salisbury held the advantage in shots on the afternoon, 34-16. The Maroons led in ground balls (14-10), but also led in turnovers (18-11). The two teams tied in draw controls (16-16), while Roanoke led in saves (12-4).

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, March 13th, as they play host Washington and Lee in Roanoke's ODAC opener. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
