Women's Lacrosse Wins Non-Conference Game over Drew, 14-13
SALEM - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team defeated non-conference opponent Drew University in a very close, 14-13 contest. The Maroons now have a record of 2-3, while the Rangers are 3-3 on the season.

The Rangers came hot out of the gate, scoring the first three goals of the game in just eight minutes. The Maroons responded with a streak of six consecutive goals. At 21:26, Darragh Evarts put the first points up on the board for the Maroons. Just one minute later, Nicole Zelnik scored off of a pass from Evarts, pulling Roanoke within one, 3-2. Rosie Knisley potted the equalizer at the 17:50 mark, tying the game at 3-3. The Maroons then went on to take a 6-3 lead after Kathleen Wager scored three consecutive goals, two off of free positions shots.

Wager wasn't the only person to score a hat trick in the first half though, as Drew's Nikki Kleiman scored three goals back-to-back over the final minutes to tie the game at 6-6, with 3:34 to play. The Rangers' Krysta Cento scored one more goal before the end of the half, to finish the first period with a 7-6 lead for the Rangers.

Both teams traded pairs of goals to open the second half, as Evarts and Jamie Golden each scored, while Drew's Brook Gagliano and Larkin Dolan scored to keep Drew's lead at one, 9-8. The Maroons and Rangers traded goals again, as Wager and Kleiman each found the back of the net, still with Drew holding a one-goal lead. However, Roanoke scored three consecutive goals, taking a two-goal lead, after Wager scored and Evarts netted two more. With 9:46 to play, Roanoke led by two, 12-10. The Rangers' Kleiman scored three more goals by the end of the game, including tying the game at 13-13 with 1:54 to play, but Evarts found the back of the goal one more time to give Roanoke the 14-13 lead with 1:40 to play. The Maroons were able to hold of the Rangers in non-conference action, winning 14-13.

Darragh Evarts led the Maroons in scoring with six goals, along with tallying one assist. Kathleen Wager was close behind with five goals. Lauren Curtin continued to stand out for the Maroons, playing all 60 minutes in goal, tallying 16 saves.

Nikki Kleiman finished the game with a game-high eight goals, while Larkin Dolan and Krysta Cento each finished with two goals. CC Carlini earned the loss in the contest, making four saves on 18 shots faced.

The Maroons return to action on Tuesday, March 19th as they return to ODAC action against Bridgewater College in Kerr Stadium. That contest is scheduled for a 6:00 PM start.
