Women's Lacrosse Drops Close Battle With Rowan, 16-15 on Thursday
SALEM- The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team fell to Rowan University on Thursday evening in non-conference action, 16-15. The Maroons now have a record of 3-4, while the Profs are 4-3.

Through the first 11 minutes of the contest, Rowan had built an 8-2 lead. Both of Roanoke's goals in the first portion of the contest came from Darragh Evarts, with one goal assisted by Allison Bonanno. With 12:59 to play, Roanoke scored its third goal, as Bonanno netted her first goal of the game. In the final 10 minutes of the half, the Maroons outscored Rowan 4-2, with Jamie Golden and Evarts scoring two goals each. At the end of the first half, Roanoke trailed Rowan 11-7.

The Maroons started off hot in the second half as Kathleen Wager scored two goals off passes from Bonanno, pulling Roanoke within two, 11-9. The Profs' Jamie Blondina scored two consecutive goals of her own to build the gap back to four goals, 13-9. Over the next 10 minutes, Roanoke outscored Rowan 6-1. During that span, Evarts and Bonanno scored two goals each, while Jamie Golden and Nicole Zelnik had one. With 5:55 to play, Roanoke had taken a 15-14 lead. Just 50 seconds later, Rowan's Blondina tied the game up with an unassisted goal. The Profs sealed the game with 3:19 to play, as Becca Wood scored off of a free position shot, giving Rowan the 16-15 win.

Darragh Evarts led the Maroons with six goals, along with one assist. Allison Bonanno topped the team in total points, finishing the game with three goals and seven assists. Jamie Golden also scored three goals. Lauren Curtin played all 60 minutes in goal, making 13 total saves.

Rowan's Becca Wood and Jamie Blondina led the Profs with five goals each, while Marissa Micciche had a team high two assists. Mary Narozanick picked up the victory, playing 32:12 minutes in goal, making two saves.

The Maroons led in ground balls 25-17, as well as saves, 13-3. The Profs' topped the Maroons in draw controls (18-14) and shots (36-24).

The Maroons return to action on Sunday, March 24th as they travel to take on Shenandoah University. That contest is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
