Maroons Fall to Guilford 19-15 on Wednesday
GREENSBORO, NC - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team ran up against the top team in the ODAC on Tuesday, as they fell 19-15 to Guilford College on the road. The Maroons now have a record of 8-7; 7-2 ODAC, while the Quakers are 14-1; 9-0 in the ODAC.

In the first 2:35 of the contest, Guilford put two goals on the board. Just 24 seconds after the Quakers' second goal, Darragh Evarts scored the Maroons first goal of the game. After Guilford's Lily Colley scored the team's third goal, Roanoke went on a three goal streak to take a one goal lead. Goals came from Rosie Knisley, Evarts and Nicole Zelnik. Guilford answered with three goals of its own as Colley scored three consecutive, unassisted goals. Jamie Golden scored two back-to-back goals of her own to tie the game at 6-6 with 12:07 to play. Through the final 10 minutes of the first half, the Maroons outscored Guilford 3-2 to end the period ahead 9-8.

The Maroons netted the first two goals of the second half, posting a three goal, 11-8 lead. The Quakers and the Maroons traded a goal each through the 24:12 mark, before Guilford rattled off three straight, tying the game at 12-12. Evarts netted a goal for the Maroons at 15:29, before Guilford scored four straight through the 4:07 mark. At that point in the game, Guilford led by three, 17-14. Through the final three minutes, Guilford outscored Roanoke 3-2 to pick up the 19-15 victory.

Darragh Evarts led the team in total points with four goals and three assists. Jamie Golden also tallied four goals on five shots. While Evarts led the team in assists, Allison Bonnano contributed two of her own. Bonanno topped the team in draw controls with six, while Evarts had a team high four ground balls. Lauren Curtin was tabbed with the loss, making four saves in her 60 minutes between the pipes.

Only four players scored for Guilford as Lily Colley led the team with seven goals. Eleanora Keene and E'leyna Garcia had five each, while Marina Bailey had two. Colley also had the team's two lone assists. The Quakers' Liza Mettier tallied 10 saves in her win at goal.

Guilford led in many statistical categories including shots (37-30), draw controls (20-13) and saves (10-4). The Maroons tied the Quakers in ground balls (12-12), clears (13-13) and free position goals (2-2).

The Maroons play their final game of the regular season on Saturday, April 20th as they travel to Lynchburg to face Randolph College. That contest is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
