Women's Lacrosse Falls in ODAC Quarterfinals, 17-11 to Randolph-Macon
SALEM - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team's season came to an end on Wednesday evening, as they fell in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Quarterfinals to Randolph-Macon College, 17-11. The Maroons finished the season with a record of 9-8, while the Yellow Jackets advance to the ODAC Semifinals with a mark of 12-5.

The end of the Maroons' 2013 season does not come without its share of amazing highlights. Roanoke went 8-2 in the ODAC regular season, which included a win over Washington and Lee that took three overtime periods, and was the Maroons first win over the Generals since May 6, 2009. The Maroons scored 20 or more goals in five different ODAC wins this season. Junior Allison Bonanno set the ODAC and Roanoke single game assists record earlier in the season with 12 assists against Randolph-Macon. She also ranks first all-time at Roanoke in assists with 141.

Kathleen Wager finishes her Roanoke career ranked seventh in goals (139) and ninth in total points (181). Wager also ranks second all-time in draw controls (166) while Darragh Evarts now sits at third in the category (157), after pulling down 96 this season, a new single-season record.

The Maroons jumped out to the early lead as Darragh Evarts scored in the first two minutes off of a pass from Knisley. The Maroons and Yellow Jackets traded three goals each over the next 12 minutes, with Roanoke holding a 4-3 lead with 14:55 to play in the first half. It was at this point that Randolph Macon went on a three goal run, taking the two goal, 6-4 lead. Roanoke responded with two goals of its own, one each from Jamie Golden and Evarts. With 7:33 on the clock in the first, the game was tied at 6-6. Randolph-Macon went on another 3-0 run through the 1:48 mark to take a three-goal, 9-6 advantage. Meghan Gerrie found the back of the net for the Maroons with just one second on the clock to close out the first half with the Maroons trailing by two, 9-7.

The Yellow Jackets opened up the second half with a 5-0 scoring run, with three goals from Emily Lynch and two from Jenelle Whitman. The Maroons first goal in the second half came at the 12:14 mark, when Golden scored an unassisted goal, bringing the Maroons back within six, 14-8. After Randolph-Macon scored one more goal, Roanoke spouted off a 3-0 run of its own, as Darragh Evarts scored three consecutive goals over a four minute period. Her last goal, which was scored with 2:08 to play, pulled the Maroons within four, 15-11. However, the Yellow Jackets stung twice more in the closing moments of the game, as Randolph-Macon won the ODAC Quarterfinal matchup, 17-11 over the Maroons.

The Maroons were led in scoring by Darragh Evarts, who finished the game with six goals. She was followed by Jamie Golden who tallied three. Rosie Knisley led the squad with four assists. Golden also had a team-high three ground balls, along with Madison Murphy. Lauren Curtin played 46 minutes in goal and tallied six saves.

The Yellow Jackets were led in scoring by Emily Lynch, who also finished with six goals. She was followed in scoring by Shannon Jamieson with four and Jenelle Whitman with three. Katie Russo led the squad with two assists. Whitman also finished with a game-high nine draw controls. Nicole Woodworth played all 60 minutes in goal and tallied 13 saves.
