Maroons Fall to #14 College at Brockport on Tuesday Evening
SALEM – The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team fell to #14 ranked College at Brockport on Tuesday evening, 19-7.  The Maroons now have a record of 3-4, while the Golden Eagles sit with a mark of 4-1.
 
Prior to the start of the contest, the Roanoke athletic department and the Maroon Club presented head coach Mary Schwartz with a plaque commemorating her 100th career victory.  In her 10th season, Schwartz also became the winningest coach in school-history.  She has led her teams to six 10-win season, including two 15-plus win campaigns that resulted in trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 and 2009.  She has taken the Maroons to five ODAC championships games, capturing the ODAC Championship in 2009.
 
The Maroons got on the board first as Darragh Evarts scored in the first minute and a half, scoring off of a pass from Allison Bonanno.  The Golden Eagles scored two goals within the next two minutes, with Kelly Wall and Hailey Boronczyk finding the back of the net.  Claire Feeney scored at the 26:04 mark, again off of a pass from Bonanno.  Through the next 10 minutes, Brockport tallied five goals, with Nina Tassone leading the charge with two goals.  Wall also scored another for the Golden Eagles during that stretch.  With 15 minutes to play in the first half, Brockport held a 7-2 advantage.
 
Courtney McCartin scored off of a free position shot at 14:32, pulling the Maroons within four.  Brockport would net three more goals through the 11:42 mark, with goals from Liz Algie, Emily Zartman and Colleen Hathaway.  Julia Galanto scored for the Maroons with 7:05, off of an assist from Evarts.  Boronczyk tallied one more for the Golden Eagles at the end of the half, as Brockport led the Maroons at the break, 11-4.
 
Brockport's Megan LeGro led off the second half with a goal in the first minute, scoring on a free position shot.  Claire Feeney answered with a goal of her own at the 26:22 mark, keeping the Maroons at a seven goal deficit.  Brockport scored four more goals over the next five minutes, with two each from Makensie Schuber and Emily Zartman.  Allison Bonanno tallied a goal at 19:42, pulling Roanke back within 10, 16-6.  Brockport scored two more goals, one from Wall, the other from Schuber with 10 minutes to play in the half.  Evarts scored a little over a minute later on an unassisted shot, giving the Maroons their seventh goal of the game.  Brockport's Algie scored the final goal of the game with five minutes to play, as Roanoke fell 19-7 on Tuesday evening.
 
Roanoke was led in scoring by Claire Feeney and Darragh Evarts, who tallied two goals each.  Allison Bonanno led the Maroons in assists, dishing out two on the evening. Evarts also led the team with five ground balls and eight draw controls.  Lauren Curtin played 40 minutes in net, while tallying six saves.
 
The Golden Eagles were led in scoring by Emily Zartman and Makensie Schuber, who scored four goals each.  Liz Algie topped the team with three assists on the night.  Ciara McKeon led the team in draw controls with three, while Colleen Hathaway had five ground balls.
 
The Maroons returned to action on Saturday, March 22nd as they take on Bridgewater College on the road.  That contest is scheduled for a 3:00 PM start.
