Women's Lacrosse Falls To Shenandoah on Saturday
SALEM – The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team fell in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action to Shenandoah University 12-7 on Saturday evening. The Maroons now have a record of 6-7, 3-3 ODAC, while the Hornets sit with a mark of 7-6, 4-2 in the ODAC.

Darragh Evarts leads the team in goals this season, having scored 49 goals. She ranks second on the team in total points with 95, as Claire Feeney moved in to the team points leader position with 96, having two goals and two assists on the evening.

Shenandoah jumped on the board first in the game, as Liz Bereit found the back of the net in the first two-and-a-half minutes of the game. Roanoke responded two minutes later as Allison Bonanno tallied the team's first goal. After another Shenandoah goal, Bonanno notched her second goal of the game, unassisted.

Shenandoah went on to outscore the Maroons 6-1 over the final 20 minutes of the first half. Samantha Donaghy and Brittany Arndt each tallied two goals for the Hornets, while the other goals were scored by Becky Bove and Erin Higgins. During that span, Roanoke's lone goal came from Briana Storey who slipped one past the keeper off of an assist by Claire Feeney. The Maroons entered the locker room trailing the Hornets, 8-3.

The halftime period sparked a fire under the Maroons as Roanoke scored the first three goals of the second half. Darragh Evarts led off with an unassisted goal with 27:51 to play in the period. Claire Feeney answered just seconds later with a goal off of a free position shot, pulling the Maroons within three. At 25:20, Feeney scored her second goal, this time unassisted as Roanoke now trailed Shenandoah 8-6.

However, after the Maroon run ended, Shenandoah mirrored Roanoke's performance by scoring thee goals of their own. Hornet goals came from Samantha Sisson and two from Liz Bereit. The Hornets spent most of the remainder of the game playing a stall on the Maroons, as Roanoke didn't score again until 9:04 in the second, with Bonanno tallying a goal off of a Feeney assist. The Hornets netted one final goal with 6:29 to play, as Roanoke fell to the Hornets 12-7.

The Maroons were led in scoring by Allison Bonanno who tallied three goals on the night. Claire Feeney was the team leader in points, scoring two goals while dishing out two assists. Darragh Evarts scored one goal while winning six ground balls. Feeney had a team high three draw controls.

For the Hornets, they were led in scoring by Liz Bereit and Samantha Sisson, who each tallied three goals on the night. Samantha Donaghy led the team in assists with two. Emily Kogler and Bereit each finished with a team-high five ground balls, while Bereit also was tops in draw controls with four.

The Maroons return to action on April 9th as they travel to take on Sweet Briar Colelge. That contest is scheduled for a 4:30 PM start.
