Maroons Cruise in Senior Day Victory Over Randolph-Macon 22-14
SALEM – In a battle for home field advantage in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's lacrosse tournament, Roanoke College defeated Randolph-Macon College 22-14 on Saturday. The Maroons enter the ODAC Tournament with a record of 10-7, finishing 7-3 in the ODAC, while the Yellow Jackets are 9-7, 6-4 in ODAC play.

Going in to this game, the two teams knew that the winner would hold the #4 seed in the ODAC Tournament, which boasts home field advantage in the ODAC Quarterfinals, which begin on Tuesday. With the win, Roanoke nabs the #4 seed, while Randolph-Macon must return to Salem on Tuesday at 4:30 PM to play the Maroons again at Kerr Stadium.

Darragh Evarts scored four goals and dished out one assist for a total of five points today. With those five points, Evarts has accumulated a total of 100 points this season, and now ranks sixth all-time in points with 253, as just a junior. She also ranks fourth all-Time at Roanoke College in goals with 192. Also rising in the ranks all-time at Roanoke College, entering the ODAC Tournament, is Allison Bonanno. She ranks second all-time in points with 352, while being the all-time leader in assists with 185. She also sits sixth all-time in goals with 167.

The Maroons also celebrated senior day for five student-athletes who have help continue the success of the Roanoke College women's lacrosse program. Before the game, Allison Bonanno, Morgan Conroy, Madison Murphy, Victoria Godwin and Kelsey Charest were recognized in front of the large senior day crowd.

Roanoke hopped out to an early 7-2 lead over the Yellow Jackets, with Allison Bonanno leading the charge with two goals. Also in the early run, junior Alexa Germany scored off of a free position shot for the seventh goal, notching the first goal in her career as a Maroon. Starting at the 11:15 mark, Randolph-Macon outscored Roanoke 6-2, cutting the deficit to one, 9-8. In the final 1:14, Claire Feeney scored two goals, both assisted by Bonanno, to extend the lead to three, 11-8 at halftime.

Roanoke got off to the same start in the second half, scoring three goals (Conroy, Feeney, Bonanno), putting the Maroons ahead by six, 14-8. The Yellow Jackets responded with three goals of their own, getting back within three. Starting at the 20:34 mark, Roanoke went on a 5-0 run, which included two goals each by Bonanno and Evarts, with the fifth coming from Nicole Zelnik. With 14 minutes to play, Roanoke led 19-11. Randolph-Macon's Audrey Hester scored at 13:01, before Roanoke rattled off another three goals, through the 4:04 mark, going ahead by 10, 22-12. The Yellow Jackets scored the final two goals of the game, but Roanoke took the victory and the #4 seed in the ODAC Tournament, 22-14.

Sophomore Claire Feeney led the Maroons in scoring on Saturday, netting seven goals off nine shots. Bonanno followed with six goals and three assists, with eight shots. Darragh Evarts tallied four goals and one assist, while pulling down 11 draw controls. Her 123 draw controls this season is the all-time single season record at Roanoke College, breaking her previous record of 104 set in 2013. Lauren Curtin played all 60 minutes in goal and made 11 saves.

The Yellow Jackets were led in scoring by Janelle Whitman, who netted five goals with two assists. Susie Snee finished with four goals and an assist for five points. Whitman also topped the team in ground balls with five, as well as a team high seven draw controls. Jamie Langbein played 41:33 in goal, tallying seven saves.

The Maroons will host the Quarterfinal round of the ODAC Tournament on Tuesday, April 22 against Randolph-Macon. That game is slated for a 4:30 PM start.
