Women's Lacrosse Falls in ODAC Quarterfinals to Randolph-Macon
SALEM – The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team fell in the Quarterfinals of the 2014 ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament, 15-13 to Randolph-Macon on Tuesday. The Maroons close the season with a record of 10-8, while the Yellow Jackets advance to the ODAC Semifinals with a mark of 10-7.

With 10 wins this season, this is the seventh 10-win season in head coach, Mary Schwartz's 10 years at the helm of the program. The Maroons also finished the year winning four out of the last five games, where they scored 20 or more goals in those five games.

At the end of the year, two Maroons find their names at the top of the Roanoke College record books. Senior Allison Bonanno finishes her career as a Maroon ranking 1st all-time at Roanoke in assists with 187, which is also the ODAC record for assists in a career. She also is second all-time in points with 358, and fifth in goals scored with 171. Junior Darragh Evarts returns next year knocking at multiple records. She already holds the all-time record for draw controls with 291, almost 100 more than second place. She is fourth all-time in goals scored with 195, and fifth in total points with 256.

In Tuesday's game, Randolph-Macon jumped on the Maroons early, going up 5-1 in the first eight minutes of the half. Roanoke's only goal during that span came from Claire Feeney. At 21:55, Roanoke started back to back goals, started by Julia Galanto, assisted by Bonanno. A minute later, Bonanno scored an unassisted goal of her own, pulling Roanoke within two, 5-3. After a scoreless period by both teams of seven minutes, Randolph Macon scored two goals within a span of 10 seconds. Evarts answered with a goal at 12:44 off of a free position shot. Over the final 11 minutes of the half, the Yellow Jackets outscored Roanoke 5-2, taking a 12-6 lead entering halftime.

Roanoke looked like a different team in the second half, scoring the first three goals of the second half. Scoring started with Morgan Conroy at 28:19, who scored off of a free position shot. At 24:37, Claire Feeney scored her second goal of the game, unassisted. The third was netted by Bonanno, just 40 seconds after Feeney's goal. The Maroons had pulled within three. After another Randolph-Macon goal at 12:37, the Maroons scored two more in the next two minutes. Feeney tallied her third goal at 12:05, while Julia Galanto scored at 10:59, both off free position shots. Roanoke trailed by just two, 13-11.

The Maroons matched every goal the Yellow Jackets scored in the last 10 minutes, both being two goals from Darragh Evarts. However, the stall played by Randolph-Macon in the final minutes kept the Maroons from finding the back of the net, as the Yellow Jackets picked up the 15-13 win in the ODAC Quarterfinals.

Roanoke was led in scoring by Allison Bonanno, who scored four goals in the game, notching two assists as well. Darragh Evarts and Claire Feeny each finished with three goals on the night. Feeney led the team in draw controls with seven, while Evarts had three. Lauren Curtin played all 60 minutes in goal, tallying 14 saves.

Randolph-Macon had three players with three goals each: Betsy Hebert, Audrey Hester and Katie Russo. Shannon Jameson had two of the team's five assists. Jenelle Whitman led all players in the game with nine draw controls.

Randolph-Macon moves on to play Washington and Lee in the ODAC Semifinals, that will take place on April 26th at 1:00 PM.
