Schwartz To Coach IWLCA Division III North-South All-Star South Team

Schwartz To Coach IWLCA Division III North-South All-Star South Team
SALEM – Roanoke College women's lacrosse head coach, Mary Schwartz has been named as the coach of the 2014 IWLCA Division III North/South All-Stars South team.

Schwartz just completed her 10th season as the head coach of the Roanoke women's lacrosse team, finishing with a record of 10-8, 7-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.  During her 10 years at Roanoke, she has had 10-win seasons with nine consecutive winning seasons.  She currently has a 107-74 overall record and a mark of 62-23 in the ODAC.  This is Schwartz's first time coaching in the North/South All-Star game, but she did have the distinction of playing in the 1985 All-Star contest.

Schwartz will be joined on the sidelines by Roanoke College assistant coach Samantha Hurley.  The pair of coaches will get an added opportunity to have Allison Bonanno '13 on their squad for one more game.  Bonanno is a three time IWLCA All-Chesapeake Region selection.  She graduated having set the ODAC and Roanoke record for career assists, dishing out 187 over four years.

"It is such an exciting opportunity to coach this group of all-stars," said Schwartz.  "For four years you scout and prepare to play against these young ladies, you research their strengths and weaknesses and prepare your team for each opponent.  Now they are all playing together and I guess they have to get along, at least on the field. I am also looking forward to coaching Allie Bonanno one more time. That in itself is awesome."

The 2014 North-South games will take place at Cabrini College in Radnor, PA on Saturday, June 7th.  The Division III game will take place at 2:00 PM Eastern Time.  To see the complete DI-DIII North/South Rosters, click here.
