Rankin was a key starter on the 2007 Roanoke women's lacrosse team that made it to the DIII NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament that year. Despite falling in the ODAC Championship, the women's lacrosse team achieved a 15-4 record on the year, which was good enough for them to receive an NCAA Tournament bid. That 2007 team also won their first NCAA Tournament game against Christopher Newport.

Rankin started in all 19 games for the Maroons during her senior year in 2007 where she led the team in points (35) and assists (19). The former Roanoke attacker finished her career 15th all-time in assists (47) and 13th all-time in shots on goal (103), she also netted a total of 83 goals in her career with the Maroons. Rankin was a three-time All-ODAC selection, which included a first-team nod in 2007 where she was also named Second-Team All-Chesapeake Region as well in that same year.
